Save Money on Your Grocery Bills with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a Federal program that provides food assistance to those who qualify, based on financial need. The SNAP program funds are accessed via an EBT card and can be used to purchase certain qualifying foods from approved retailers.
Do You Have an EBT SNAP Card?
Have you applied for a SNAP/EBT benefits card? If not, visit Benefits.gov to determine your eligibility and find the local state office to apply. Applications can be done online or in person.
Applications for a SNAP EBT card take approximately 4-6 weeks to process. Call your local office if there is an emergency situation and rush processing is possible.
Once you have your SNAP EBT card pin number it's time to go shopping!
Step 1: Download the InstaCart app on your smartphone.
InstaCart is available on both Apple and Android devices. It's free to download and easy-to-use.
Step 2: Create an account and set up your delivery address.
Signing up with InstaCart takes only a few minutes. You can sign up with a Google, Facebook, or Apple Account, or Email. Once you enter your delivery address and verify your phone number, add your EBT number and debit or credit card in the payment methods section.
How to Connect Your EBT Card to Your Account
Enter the first name, last name, and card number on the EBT card. Click save
Use a Credit or Debit Card as a Backup Payment
To successfully use your EBT card, a credit or debit card must also be linked to your Instacart account to cover fees, taxes, delivery fees and tips, service fees, and any other non-EBT SNAP-eligible items you may want to purchase.
Currently, Instacart does not accept EBT cash.
You can also use PayPal as a payment method.
Step 3: Select EBT eligible items from participating stores.
EBT SNAP eligible items are marked "EBT" when browsing your local store selections. You must select stores within the state you initially applied for SNAP benefits.
Helpful Tip: Make sure you have the latest version of the InstaCart app when checking for participating stores.

Step 4: Select the Green checkout button payment method when checking out.
Then review your EBT-eligible and non-eligible items. Once everything is confirmed you'll need to pay and enter your EBT pin number to confirm the purchase.
