Keep the Family Unit Strong With Free Senior Cell Phones

What is the Lifeline Program for Seniors? - EASY Wireless

Free senior cell phones are here!

Growing in years and reaching elder status is a great blessing.

To live a long life and consistently grow in wisdom is something to be proud of, and having grandchildren and great-grandchildren running around is certainly something to cherish.

Many good things come with being a senior citizen, but there are some difficult areas, too. For many, medical conditions either present themselves or worsen during this time. Loved ones start their own families and begin to spread out, making it harder to keep in touch, and when the grandchildren do want to communicate, it’s usually through social media platforms and mobile apps.

Phone calls and visits have become less frequent, and if you don’t have an updated phone and internet access, you don’t have the tools to communicate. This can quickly lead to a breakdown in the family unit – something you certainly don’t want. The good news is that with free senior cell phones and the help of Affordable Connectivity Benefit (ACP) – and EASY Wireless, you don’t have to sit back helplessly and watch it happen.

How Can ACP and EASY Wireless Improve Your Golden Years and Beyond?

If you haven’t heard of the ACP program, you’re missing out. Though there was a time when people found a way to communicate without the use of a cell phone, those days are gone, and it’s nearly impossible to manage most tasks without access to the internet.

Even when filling out paperwork for government programs, medical care, and the like, you may be required the use a phone and the internet. Paying for those things, though, is out of reach for many people – especially those on a fixed or limited income.

Fortunately, the government has recognized this and has implemented the ACP program to help deserving eligible citizens. The Affordable Connectivity Program is an avenue through which the government works with approved providers to offer Internet services to qualified individuals. For customers of Easy Wireless, this internet comes on a free cell phone loaded with free talk, text, and data (internet) service.

EASY Wireless is one of the companies that helps bring ACP to senior citizens. We offer two separate cell phone plans to suit your needs. Let’s take a look at these and just how they can benefit you.

  • SNAP or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (food stamps)

You can also qualify if someone in your household receives benefits through WIC, Pell Grant Awards, or the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).

Free Senior Cell Phones FAQs

How do I qualify through income?

Income requirements are updated yearly, so you’ll want to check for the most current information. For 2022, the income level for one person must be $27,180 or less. If you don’t live alone, you’ll add an extra $9,440 per year.  Check this chart for more information.

Is it easier to qualify through income or assistance program participation?

Usually, qualifying through program participation is easier. Most states have a Medicaid and HUD database that will give you approval in seconds. Some states have a SNAP database that will do the same. If there is no program database the government can automatically dip into, you will need to have an award letter or screenshot from an online account that shows proof of active benefits from one of the programs listed above. Income will require a disability award letter from the Social Security Administration or VA, an income tax statement, or 3 months’ worth of paycheck stubs. If proof has to be reviewed, you should see an approval within 15 minutes.

How long does the process take?

We want to get you connected as soon as possible. Typically, this means you’ll receive a confirmation email with the status of your application within one business day. Within seven days, you’ll usually have your phone. However, you can rest assured that we will move the process along as quickly as we possibly can.
